To be read out loud...
…and in the presence of others. Growing Down by Shel Silverstein Mix a grunt and a grumble, a sneer and a frown, and what do you have? Why old Mr. Brown, the crabbiest man in our whole darn town. We all called him Grow-Up Brown; For years each girl and boy and pup heard “Grow up, grow up, oh grow up.” He’d say, “Why don’t you be polite? Why must you shout and...

Sunday morning and part of me is thinking about Monday morning, and part of me is thinking about Saturday afternoon (Kentucky Derby), and part of me is thinking about summer and part of me is thinking about going on a long bike trip. This is a view from my every-morning. My mom made that green bag in my crate! Biking to school each morning makes me want to bike all day long. I have 4 more...
At the Bus Stop
I was at the bus stop today. Stood beside me was a man and next to him was his carer. All of a sudden the man (not his carer) proceeded to facilitate me. This was an unexpected but brilliant moment that threw me for a second. I mean, nobody ever dares look at you at a bus stop, let alone talk to you. Anyway after a solid conversation about the football team I support (he has 3 teams) we got onto...
Talky talky? Sure!
me: hey everyone! guess what? if you click on one of the entries on our blog, below it you'll find a DISQUS section where we can comment and converse! doesn't that sound great?
you: yea that sounds supa awesome!!
me: also, when you post, tag your name, like i have with some of mine and alastair's, that way, when i'm thinking to myself, "oh i want to listen to that song," or "read that brilliant entry," i can easily search and find it. if there are any other tags that you think might consistently apply, like "real deal" or "mixtape" then add that too!
you: okay, that doesn't sound like too much work!
me: it isn't! thanks!
you: no problem! can't wait to post all the time!
me: i can't wait either!
Hey guys! I have the beginnings of a new song/...
I’ve decided that this Friday I am going clothes shopping. I haven’t done this for almost a year. Whats “cool” in America….. but not “trendy”. I want “in” but not “innnn”. you picking up what im putting down? Love A
In visiting Emily and Anthony in Portland, I’ve been overwhelmed with a sweet feeling of positivity for this place. Such friendly dispositions and interactions have made the perfect step away from what was one of my best experiences as a facilitator. And, oh! Cherry blossoms! Dogwoods! Next week I’ll be site leading for a four-day program, so I’ll definitely need to carry over...
ch, ch, ch, channnnnnges.
Tumblr has been blogged at my school. My fingers’ muscle memory refuses to acknowledge this, though. Every morning, Monday to Friday, they go straight for GoLifeboat. Today is a different kind of morning because I am on Spring Break—a strange and beautiful week in the spring when school-age kids, and those affiliated with them, take a week off to close their books and open their minds up to...

Hello boaters!! I am sitting here with my cat (see cat photo). We are hanging out on Easter Monday, watching old episodes of Friends on the tv. Its raining outside, which is a shame because I really wanted to play golf today! The cat is called Sammy. In other news - my official visa interview day is May 2nd. Cross your fingers I pass, otherwise I wont be able to make it to my own wedding!!! ...

The Real Deal Continues............Conquering...
I work at a restaurant, I make Hamburger patties, yesterday while making patties( Tapper would be proud) I bonded with the manager, we talked about what makes us tick. Do people live? How do we live? What gets us excited? How do you really feel? He felt there wasn’t enough of this. In my mind, I do it, I breathe it, I live it. I tried not to facilitate the moment, but I couldn’t...
Hi friends. I miss you. Hope everyone is doing great this new year. I’ve talked to a couple of you and it’s been great. Would love to talk to the rest of you. :) I’ve been getting this feeling that we r all growing up.. Becoming “adults” I miss our spontaneous giggles, those looks across the elo that say “Yeap, I know how you feel” I miss debriefing! Did...
WINTER BREAK 2011
Thank goodness the bike I had in elementary school was way to big because I am riding it again. In Ohio for a few days, and I am swarmed with memories from past holidays. The years have been so full & so fully zooming by that I can barely keep track or what happened when and now I am twenty-five years old. It’s just 1 o’clock in California, and it’s 4 o’clock...
two years ago!!!
two years ago we finished our first fall together! CRAZY. Then you all left me home alone for 2 months. unbelievable
The Hunger Games
I just finished The Hunger Games a couple weeks ago! I tried to make a put group for my school about the book. One person showed up to talk about the book. She hadn’t read it, but we had a lovely talk. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in the series to come back from because I have it reserved at the library! MUCHO LOVE. xine.
The leaves changing and falling, the coming of the holidays, my obsession with all things pumpkin flavored in full force what a lovely time of year. I’m missing us and having a sense of melancholy and reflection. All-star for books, I highly recommend The Hunger Games. I’m somewhat obsessed. And in other mainstream books I have read and enjoyed: The Help, One Day, The Art of...
a window into today in Room 202 for golifeboat viewers old & new!
I saw a man on the pavement the other day holding a scrabble set. He suddenly dropped it all over the road. I looked around and said “whats the word on the street?” Velcro- what a rip off.
Also, Ive been yearning to find a good book. The real world reigns me into a world of Jack Bauer and constant sport channels. I found myself watching darts the other day, DARTS!! so I made myself go and hug my guitar and say sorry. So anyway books. Suggestions please. I just finished girl with a dragon tattoo. loved it!! Alastair p.s 265 days until I get to be on the same land as...
I went to the meat market the other day and struck up a lovely conversation with the butcher. He pointed behind him and said ” I bet you 5 pounds you can’t guess the weight of that meat on the top shelf” I said “there’s no way I’m gambling. The steaks are too high”
THANKS FOR POSTING.
my day is brightened times a billion. plus! i did my first writing workshop with kids today. for how much i love writing, i find it, quite possibly, the most difficult thing to share with kids. this time, starting, i was honest with them about how much i love writing, & how we will do everything in our power to share it fully this year. they worked so hard. it was cool seeing this happen....

I was at the pub the other day. Two blokes were having an argument. A referee then walked in and it all kicked off!!!
Team building- needed.
Hello dear friends! Christine, your last post was brilliant. you write far better than I do. For a minute or so I tried to replicate your style, but it ended up sounding like something between Shakespeare and buzz light-year. In fact it made no sense at all. The last few months have been rather crazy in “ye ol’ England” with wedding planning taking over both our lives! We...
The REAL DEAL life continues.............
Greetings dear friends, I’m reporting live from Woodstock, CT on the next great journey of experiential education this time including diversity. I’m in orientation now, tonight we played JUSTONEWORD, but I kept my mouth shut not to give away the secret. I pulled food scraps from the sink next to the hobart, the memories came into motion. I miss you all, as I sit in a new living...
